Qualified to Practice Psychotherapy and Counselling, under the supervision of Dr. Emily Blake: OPQ#11157-08
Simon Paquette, Psy.D.(c) is a doctorate in clinical psychology at Université Laval. He has completed his clinical training and is currently finishing his doctoral research. His research dissertation examines parents’ motivation toward childrearing and has been funded by the Fonds québécois pour la recherche sur la société et la culture (FQRSC).
Simon has completed over 8 years of clinical training. His experience has been largely accrued in tertiary care (i.e. specialized consultative health care), both in major and specialty hospitals, as well as in various private clinics in Montreal and in Quebec City. He specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, anger management, interpersonal difficulties, chronic pain and substance abuse in both adolescent and adult populations. He also offers career coaching and works with clients to improve their communication skills, assertiveness and mindfulness. Simon provides therapy in both English and in French.
His approach to therapy is empathetic, non-judgemental and collaborative. He uses scientifically validated treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution-Focused and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Attending psychotherapy can be a difficult endeavour, but it is also deeply rewarding and life changing (in a good way!). Simon pays particular attention to developing individualized treatment plans for each of his clients. His research experience permits him to help them increase their motivation and sense of self-empowerment towards difficult tasks. In short, he strives to help them reach their goals, improve their well-being and overall quality of life.
