Hi there! My name is Dr David Martin and I’m a psychologist with over 15 years of experience, working with clients struggling with a variety of issues including but not limited to, trauma (PTSD), complex trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, life adjustments, burnout, identity issues, and ADHD. Before joining Blake Psychology, I worked as the Clinical Director and Psychologist at Creighton University Counseling Center, in Omaha Nebraska, in the United States. I also have experience treating Military Veterans at the Topeka and Leavenworth Hospitals in Kansas. I graduated from the University of Kansas, where I focused my studies on mindfulness and attachment in the therapy process.

I have a therapeutic style that focuses on helping the client to develop a deep understanding of themselves and their significant relationships and attachments. My style is conversational, relational and experiential. I believe that therapy should be comfortable, meaningful and transformational (lead you to feeling better about yourself and your relationships). My therapeutic approach has been shaped most by my intensive training in Internal Family Systems. I have also received formal training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing, Emotion Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). 

In addition to working with clients individually, I also specialize in Couples Therapy and the process of helping romantic partners to develop healthy patterns of communication and mutual support. In my spare time, I love eating and drinking good wine with friends and family, and most of all, playing with my daughter, Yvette, son, Lambert, Bernese Mountain dog, Bella and cat, Princess Shiba.
