Daniela Beer-Becker, MA

Psychologist

Working with Daniela was wonderful because she broke down the parts of my life that I needed to really look at , and because of that, I now know what I want to do going forward with my career 🙂 thank you so much !

“I had never received counseling and was very nervous the first time I met Daniela. I didn’t feel like my problems would be “serious” enough to be there. She was a good listener and helped me realize everyone needs to talk through certain things in their life and relationships. I was no longer ashamed to get help. I like that when we parted ways she gave me some tangible ideas for growth. Some of them – I am still doing 4 years later.”

“My experience of Daniela is one of peace and acceptance. She is gifted in listening and speaking truthfully. She is willing and able to ask the tough questions while being someone who is gentle and committed. She is competent and excellent at what she does. My time with her has indeed been life changing as she challenges my perspectives on everything and yet is also in the process with me. I am deeply grateful for her commitment to my process and her willingness to tell me to slowdown and enjoy the journey.”

“Sometimes you just need someone to talk to who won’t judge you and give you a neutral but genuine opinion. That’s what Daniela was for me. I just needed someone outside of my circle to talk to, who I could trust and shared some of the same beliefs as I did.”

“Daniela was very effective in helping me through certain issues as a single Mom that brought up two kids on my own. I was filled with a lot of guilt about not being able to do enough for them and Daniela really helped me realize that doing it all FOR them was not the answer, I had to let them do it in their own and let life teach them! Thank you, Daniela.”

“Meeting with Daniela has helped bring me a much needed new, yet truthful perspective to my own. She tells me her honest thoughts with gentleness and firmness (depending on what I need to hear that session) and encourages me toward acceptance of myself, but also change I find myself quicker at catching the lies that I tell myself and at least having the tools to replace them with truth. It lets me live more confidently and freely than ever.”

“It was helpful talking through things with Daniela . She helped bring clarity to areas of confusion in my life and named truth in important moments.”

When I started seeing Daniela, I was broken, anxious and confused. I had little confidence in myself, I was constantly crying and I was living in a state of fear. However, in the sessions with Daniela, I felt safe. She was always so kind, compassionate, gentle and encouraging. Daniela helped me to recognize my strengths and abilities, to learn to love myself and to “pick myself up” in difficult situations. As our sessions progressed, I regained my confidence and found inner peace by learning to take control of my thoughts. It has been more than a year since I completed my therapy with Daniela, and I can truly say that, with all that I gained through Daniela’s knowledge and expertise, it has been one of the best years of my life!

Daniela is a highly trained psychologist who excels at providing honest and compassionate psychotherapy to help people reach their personal and relationship goals as quickly and effectively as possible. She sincerely cares about each and every client, providing a warm, welcoming environment, with a down-to-earth approach, and a great sense of humor. She is willing to go the extra mile, to make sure that she has done all she can, to help her clients move forward. The life skills she teaches have helped clients to lead happier, more fulfilling lives. She is our go-to person for couples therapy, grief counselling, as well individual therapy for anxiety, anger, and depression. It is without a doubt that I recommend her services!

Having never tried talking to a psychologist before I had reservations about going to my first session. I’m my culture we often don’t seek help for our problems. Daniela was very helpful and important in getting me over difficult times in my life. I was going through a separation/divorce and felt broken inside there had been domestic violence, the police and courts were involved and life became unmanageable. She had great insight in our sessions and I was impressed with how well she listened and provided feedback and helpful resources for me to gain more knowledge on how to self-improve. Even on a few occasions when I desperately needed an ear for a minute she was able to provide me with clear feedback and with her help I was able to stay on the right track. Talking about my situation was the best thing I could’ve done and with Daniela’s expertise I was able to pinpoint my relationship problems and get better and turn these weakness into strengths rediscovering who I am and what I want out of life moving forward.

Hi! I’m Daniela Beer-Becker, MA, a licensed psychologist with over 15 years of professional experience, including nine years of University-level training in psychology, including my Master’s degree from McGill University. My educational background is international and diverse as I was able to pursue my studies in Austria, Germany, and Canada. My extensive training makes me an expert at helping people to understand what causes and maintains problems, as well as developing personalized treatment plans to facilitate positive growth and wellbeing. I am member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec and offer my services in English and German.

I specialize in the treatment of interpersonal difficulties, anxiety disorders, depression, anger management and coping with grief and loss in adolescents and adults. I also teach life-skills such as communication, assertiveness, problem solving, healthy boundaries, and mindfulness. I have been assessing clients of all ages for learning disabilities for over a decade. Next to working in Montreal, my expertise has taken me to very isolated school communities in the Cree, Inuit and Lower North Shore areas—flying, helicoptering and ski-dooing to these schools to help teachers and children.

I provide couple counselling and consider it a privilege to work with both partners as they learn to transform conflicts into opportunities of growth and healing. I teach essential information and skills to help make their relationship successful, or to find out if they want to be together. Couples learn to be more deeply connected and loving with their partners. I absolutely love working with people, and believe diversity is the spice of life. I am sensitive to cultural and diversity issues, and enjoy working with individuals and couples of all sexual orientations. On a personal note, I just celebrated my 20th anniversary with my husband, and am familiar with the challenges a long-term, committed relationship can bring. The professional knowledge I have acquired over many years of training, has been crucial in transforming my marriage relationship into a vibrant and satisfying one. I want to share those relational skills with you, so you also can again experience joy and satisfaction in your relationship.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I know that going to therapy can be stressful, so I make every effort to instill a sense of safety, so that you can explore your thoughts and feelings in a supportive environment. My therapeutic approach is based on scientifically-based models of psychotherapy, including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy. I see therapy as a collaborative journey, where we work as a team towards your growth and healing. Along the way, we can connect and laugh (important!) as we pursue your goals together!

I am looking forward to working with you!
